Billing & Payment

Pay Online

If you have an online account, log in to pay your bill. If not, register for an account to see and pay your bills online, or make a one-time payment.

Automatic Payments

If you prefer to have your bill automatically paid using your checking or savings account, please enroll in our automatic payment service (APS) and the full amount of your bill will be automatically deducted from your bank account approximately 21 days after you receive the bill.

Enroll only in APS

Fill out an automatic payment service application and send the application along with a voided check to:

Enroll in APS at the same time you enroll in online billing

While you are enrolling in online billing, you can fill out the optional center tab in the enrollment web form. Once you submit the form you will be enrolled in both online billing and APS.

Already enrolled in online billing, but not enrolled in APS?

  1. Log in to your online billing profile
  2. Select the APS info link
  3. Select the Click here to enroll link
  4. Fill out the APS Enrollment form and push the "Enroll" button

Need to update your banking information and you are not enrolled in online billing?

If you are already enrolled in the automatic payment service plan and your bank information has changed, please fill out an automatic payment service application and send the application along with a voided check to:

Deactivating Automatic Payment Service (APS)

Already enrolled in online billing and you want to keep online billing but remove your existing APS?  

  1. Log in to online billing with your User ID and Password
  2. Go to "My Payment Accounts" 
  3. Select "Delete" to remove from your profile 
  4. Notify us by email customer.service@sjwater.com or by phone 1 (408) 279-7900 , that you have requested to stop APS.

Pay by Mail

Use these tips to ensure a smooth payment process:

  • Please do not mail cash
  • Make checks payable to "San Jose Water"
  • Please do not staple or tape your check to the payment coupon
  • Write your San Jose Water account number on the check

Pay by Phone

Call 1 (855) 771-7900 24 hours a day, 7 days per week to use our free automated payment service with your checking or savings account.

Please have the following information available:

  • Your San Jose Water 11-digit account number
  • Your bank account routing number
  • Your checking or savings account number

Office hours: 8:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday-Friday.
Office is closed for holidays (see list at right).

If paying by credit card, please bring a valid form of identification.

Payments Outside of Business Hours
Payments can be deposited in our door drop. Acceptable payment methods include:

  • Cashier's check

Payments will be posted the following business day.

Has your water been shut off or subject to disconnection for non-payment?

You must speak with a customer service representative by calling (408) 279-7900, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm.
