SJW, CWA Team up with Sen. Dave Cortese, Asms. Low and Pellerin to Donate Thanksgiving Meals

San Jose Water Supports Operation Gobble

SAN JOSE, CALIF., November 8, 2023 – San Jose Water (SJW) is helping to ensure residents in the greater San Jose area can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with the donation of Safeway gift cards to Community Seva on behalf of State Senator Dave Cortese; to the Bill Wilson Center on behalf of Assemblymember Evan Low; and to Sacred Heart Community Service on behalf of Assemblymember Gail Pellerin.

The California Water Association established the Operation Gobble program with the purpose of partnering water utilities with non-profit organizations across the state to make donations during Thanksgiving to support families facing hardship.

“We are excited to again participate in Operation Gobble and know the holidays can be tough for many. Our goal is to provide a helping hand year-round — making a positive impact on the health, wellness, and vibrancy of the communities and customers we serve,” stated John Tang, VP of Regulatory and Government Relations at San Jose Water. “We appreciate the partnerships with our elected officials and community organizations to make the holidays a little brighter for those most in need.”

“Thank you to San Jose Water for bringing us together to create a wave of generosity that will uplift the non-profits serving our community. I am proud to recognize the work of Community Seva, a local organization that provides assistance and support to our unhoused neighbors through a network of dedicated volunteers,” said Senator Cortese.

Said Assemblymember Low, “I want to thank San Jose Water and the California Water Association for their generous donations as we try and give a hand to families in need during the holiday season. The Bill Wilson Center is a crucial partner in our community, providing services to more than 5,000 children, youth, young adults, and families in Santa Clara County through various programs. I am proud to commend the work of the Bill Wilson Center and work together to assist our community for the holidays.”

“I am happy to partner with San Jose Water on Operation Gobble to give $2500 in grocery gift cards to Sacred Heart Community Service, helping those in need during the Holiday Season.  I am a strong believer in the mission of Sacred Heart to have a community free from poverty and am thankful to have such a great organization serving Santa Clara County,” said Assemblymember Gail Pellerin.

Senator Cortese, Assemblymember Low, Assemblymember Pellerin and representatives of Community Seva, the Bill Wilson Center and Sacred Heart Community Service, will be on hand at 11:00 am Thursday, November 9, 2022, at San Jose Water headquarters located at 110 W. Taylor Street in San Jose, to receive the gift cards. Watch the event live stream here.
