How We Are Combating PFAS
San Jose Water is designing and constructing a system at our Williams Station facility using ion exchange treatment technology to ensure the delivery of water which meets or surpasses all State and Federal drinking water standards for PFOS and maximizes the use of out groundwater supply.
To do so, we are requesting an increase in revenue of $25,171,741 or 4.05% to fund our Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) compliance program. Based on available EPA data, PFAS is a nationwide issue, and many public water systems are impacted.
| Customer Class | $ Increase | % Increase | Estimated Average Bill Changes ($) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Residential Customer | $25,171,741 | 4.05% | $5.76 |
How Would This Impact the Average Residential Customer?
If the request is approved, the average residential customer with a 3/4-inch meter using 10 ccfs (1 ccf = 748 gallons) per month would see a rate increase of approximately $5.76 per month, phased in over four years ($0.83 in 2028, $2.86 in 2029, $1.72 in 2030, and $0.35 in 2031).
