Traditional methods of assessing PoF are often based on static factors such as age, material, and past failures. These methods are decent, but they fall short in capturing the dynamic and complex nature of water distribution systems. In contrast, AI models analyze vast datasets, identifying patterns and correlations that often escape human detection.
Each pipe segment’s PoF score plays a crucial role in ranking pipelines for replacement. High risk pipes are organized into comprehensive replacement projects, undergo a design process, and are approved for construction. The AI model helps ensure our process is as efficient as possible, however human beings make all the decisions and do all the work.
