Goals and Objectives
San Jose Water Company (SJWC) has a long-standing commitment of seeking business relationships that enable us to provide our customers with excellent customer service and a reliable supply of high quality water at a fair and reasonable price.
We remain committed to seek and maintain such relationships as we strive to broaden our network of partners through a newly implemented Utility Supplier Diversity Program (USDP). SJWC's USDP is designed to encourage, recruit, and utilize women and minority owned business enterprises (WMBE), as well as disabled-veteran owned business enterprises (DVBE) in California in our procurement chain. The USDP is based upon guidelines established by the California Public Utilities Commission (Commission) for regulated energy and telecommunication utilities.
SJWC believes that a commitment to supplier diversity is good business and a benefit for the communities that SJWC serves, and best in class companies show this commitment by developing a diverse supplier base within the community in which they operate. Our expectation is that the expansion of the available vendor base will ultimately lead to lower procurement costs.
