San
Jose Water Company recently donated a retired fire hydrant for use in
a new exhibit at the Campbell Historical Museum. The exhibit traces
the roots of the Campbell Fire Department, from an all-volunteer force
in 1912 to the establishment of the professional department in 1958.
Paul Bettencourt and Aaron Catalano from the SJWC Maintenance Department
restored the 1908 hydrant to showroom condition.
The Campbell Historical Musuem is open from noon to
4:00 PM Thursday through Sunday. It is located at 51 North Central Avenue
in Campbell. Admission is $4.00 for adults, $2.50 for youth 7-17.
